Pastoral Care Services

Pastoral Care is part of the holistic approach to healing and health care that looks to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of the patient.  By attending to spiritual and emotional pain and trying to alleviate or resolve it helps the patient to respond better to diagnosis and treatment and truly come to healing in body, mind and spirit.

Pastoral Services include:
*Patient Visitation
*Prayer Opportunities
*Prayer Care
*Advance Directives Preparation
*Ethical Consultation
*Outreach
*Congregational Health Network

Patient Visitation

Referrals to the Pastoral Care Office can be made by phone, (941) 766-4580.  From within the hospital, simply dial the last 5 digits.   During Admission and Registration, patients can also request a Pastoral Visit.

Prayer Opportunities

The Chapel, located in the Main Lobby, is available 24 hours a day for prayer and reflection to patients, their families and the staff of Peace River Regional Medical Center.

Mass is celebrated in the Chapel and is televised to the patient rooms on Channel 43 at the following times:
Monday & Wednesday LIVE: 9:15 a.m.
Sunday VIDEOTAPE: 9:00 a.m.

Prayer Care

On Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m., a 30-minute prayer service will be offered in our chapel.  Prayer teams from Peace Lutheran Church will pray for healing and offer communion to those who request it.  Your family and friends are welcome to attend.  If you are unable to come to the chapel, prayer teams will visit at the bedside upon request following the service.  For more information, please contact your nurse.

Advance Directive Preparation

Referrals can be made to the Pastoral Care Office for help in enacting Living Wills and/or Health Care Surrogate Documents.  To learn more about advance directives and to access downloadable forms, click here.

Ethical Consultation

When ethical questions or crises arise in the treatment of a patient, call the Pastoral Care Office, (941) 766-4580, or Administration, (941) 766-4125, to request an Ethics Committee Consult.

Outreach

Pastoral Care Chaplains can contact clergy of all religious persuasions in our region for patient and staff support.  Your minister, priest, rabbi or spiritual leader of any faith is always welcome to visit you.

The chaplains are also here for confidential listening.  Whether you have concerns that you may be dealing with in your private lives or at the hospital, our chaplains are ready to assist and will make time for you.

Congregational Health Network

The Congregational Health Network (CHN) is a unique opportunity for both hospital and congregations to partner in providing optimal health, healing and well-being for you, a member of our community.  Many congregations already offer outreach by providing both spiritual care and support to our patients.  The CHN is our outreach to congregations to provide training and to equip them to provide health advocacy.  To learn more about the CHN, contact Rachel Struebing, Community Relations Registered Nurse, at (941) 456-5764.
